FAMILY PORTRAIT |
PROJECT 71. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried, was drawing with charcoal , I feel like I mastered how to draw with willow charcoal. Willow charcoal made it easy to cover up a mistake and was erasable and helped me outline. I struggled with charcoal pencils because it was hard not making a mess and keeping the paper clean. I did try the eraser technique where you erase the highlight but I went a little overboard with the high lighting. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I didn't really drive from inspiration from other artist as I did a family portrait and wanted it to be something very personal, and something that I wanted to represent my family. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. I wanted to do a family drawing, where I express my feelings toward some family members with different symbols and I wanted to do an update to the family picture but I was fearful of the feeling I might hurt some feeling so I decided to leave the family portrait alone, until I decide to go in with my ideas. I would have added flower that represent my emotions and I would have made a second family portrait that has someone absent from it. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? . I would complete it and have the courage to incorporate my ideas into the piece and add more details. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? This would fit in because I am including my family, the people that have influenced me and made me the person I am today. My family are a big part of my identity. If I had finished the Piece like I had wanted too then there would have been symbolism to show identity in this piece. |
