IGNORANCE |
PROJECT 3 |
1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The technique that I tried was the wet on wet technique and I really struggled with it as it was hard to make trees and also I didn't really have the right tools in order to make this painting but I just went with the flow and tried to make it work. Even though I struggled with the painting I feel like I mastered using a fan brush, i have never really used a fan brush and when making the river/waterfall it came out better than expected. I did forget some key things, like the way a river moves but overall, I'm proud of how it came out. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I was inspired by Bob Ross and Diego Rivera with their painting and combining their artwork. I derived meaning from their work by Diego rivera painting social issues and painting things that others artists wouldn't dare to because of the controversy behind it. I chose Bob Ross because he does a lot of nature paintings and I chose David Rivera because he painted things that inspired him and he painted some controversial things. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. My piece went through many phases and on big on was when I realized that there was no titanium white in the schools oil's paint so I had to work around things and try to make sort of a darker piece, i order paint online and i have to wait until it came so then I went in again and painted over some of the original dark parts, and then my painting smuggled a little when it fell from my canvas stand and it landed on me and then also again fell and landed on my bed. so I decided to blend it in a little so it doesn't look like it fell on me. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? . I would consider to redo the trees, because it would make the painting more realistic and have more of a impact on the audience as they see a beautiful landscape, dying because of humanity's ignorance and lack of respect of the environment. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? This has a common thread with the rest of the pieces because, this shows humanity's identity and how as a whole group we choose to ignore the signs that our earth is warning. Also, using different symbols to represent one identity. Like the naked women holding flowers is supposed to represent our pure and connected ancestors. |
