PROJECT 21. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried, was coloring with Prismacolor pencils and the grid. I feel like I mastered the grid because my drawings with the gird became a little easier and more accurate. On the other hand, I really struggled with trying to add value with Prismacolor pencils as I don't really know how to blend them. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? The only part in my piece that I drove inspiration from another artist is when I add the cartoon characters, from Melanie's story book. The artist who created those illustrations is Chloe Tersigni. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. I measured the size of the picture and I decided that I was going to make the drawing two times bigger. I messed up originally and had to start over. Once I stared over it made me realize how important measurements are. I stared to color in the face and I was having trouble choosing the right color and most of the time I didn't have the right color so I tried mixing colors and I felt that I did an okay job in trying to get the right color. Another challenge in the process was trying to get the mouth accurate and there was always something a little off, so i got some help from the teacher and she taught me a cool little trick on getting the mouth shape accurate. After fixing and coloring the mouth I began to work on the hair and it took me forever as I did it in color pinochle and I focused on the highlights. Then I searched up drawings from Melanie's story book then began to draw and color that, after that I began to work on the back ground and I used chalk pastel then I added Melanie's name on the project then Colored it with color pencil then it was complete. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? . I would add more color to the face to emphasize Melanie. I would do this because I want to make the drawing as realistic as I can. Adding more colors to the face would make it more realist and would make the drawing better as there is more colors to look at. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? This links with my other pieces by my common thread of identity and also using different symbols to represent one identity. In this piece I used the different symbols like colors and different things like drawings and tear drops. |
