PROJECT 11. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried was using color. I never really try to do realistic portraits with color but I feel like I mastered it. I really struggled to add value to my piece. This was the second time I used Prisma color pencils but i feel like i struggle blending them together 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I drew inspiration from Diego Rivera's aesthetic because he was fascinated with the Mexican culture, and I feel like this year I am exploring my culture more and more and iI was inspired by Diego Rivera to show the beauty in the culture. Im gaining historical perspectives as Diego lived in an older time when the was a movement of protest and even though there were conflicts during the time, Diego continued to paint Mexico and its rich culture. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. My piece originally went bad as when I started I made it to small and I didn't split my paper into squares, but that resulted into my piece in not being proportionate and being off so I restarted, it took me very long to finish. My art leacher helped me see the shapes in the picture, there was a right right triangle fro the dress being held up to the bottom of that to the every end of the other side of the dress. So with knowing that I sketched a triangle, so I know how the dress is angled. I chose to do this piece on black paper because it would make the colors stand out and really pop and also because of the left over space, would make the main focus the dancer rather than getting distracted from the background. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? . I would Correct the face and add more value to the face. I would do this because I messed up on creating the face and i erased so much that it made the face bleak. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? This relates to my other pieces because it explores identity. The common thread was identify as in this piece I wanted to explore the identify of the culture, but in a smaller aspect like a traditional dance. |
