CHARCOAL & CHALK PASTELS (9/1/2017) This was my first time using pastels and charcoal and also a Still life! it was extremely difficult as I had no experience, but I had so much fun, because I was learning new things and realizing so many factors of art and I feel since that day I've really grow as an artist and as a person. I tried adding a reflection for the first time and I feel that I could have gone in more with the white and focused on the shape of the shape. CHALK PASTELS (9/13/2017) This was my second time I used pastels and I feel that I have improved since my first time, I really liked this one because of the color and value. it was fun just messing around and experimenting with colors to make the value pop. I learned that mixing colors that seem like you wouldn't mix them make the color up want and sometimes gives you a better color to work with. I was really happy with the outcome because of the petal's value. INDIA INK (09/20/2017) Another medium that I have never really used and with this medium I learned to not just to go straight in with the India ink as it is very pigmented, so you have add water in order to be able to add value. You start with a lighter shaded then you have to slowly add layers and darken the color. I struggled with adding value to the neck but I've learned that, going little by little comes a long way. WATERCOLOR (10/25/17) The next medium that I tired was water color. Water color is really hard because I don't understand how to use this medium, but I tried and learned how to add contrast to the mountains so it makes it look like mountains but it didn't really work for me, I struggled a lot because I added to much water which would smear the paint everywhere. BATIK TEMPERA(11/25/17) This medium is entirely new to me. I didn't even know this existed. I was so surprised and amazed when learning how to do it. This medium is very time consuming as it involved a lot of waiting for the paint to dry, and you have to be careful not to go over the sharpie lines. This required a lot of patience and that is a quality that I don't have. Im trying to learn how to be patient and this project helped me a little as I tried to take my time. One thing that i would change is to add another coat to everything just in case because once I finished, I noticed the spots in my painting and it made the piece looked rushed.
