PROJECT 61. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried was photography, I took two photo series at the same time, so may photography rules were missed as these subjects were moving fast, and I felt that I tried taking photos of a moving subject and turn it into a still photo of the festival. I struggled with this as many of the photos came put blurry as the subjects were moving too fast, and at time some of the photos were usable but not everything in the photo was clear. I mastered getting to know my camera and the settings of the camera. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I was inspired by the traditions of the festival and all the amazing aspects of the celebration of the saint Nicolas. I gained historical perspective from the work as I was able to see the traditions being passed down and also see the new elements of the festival that was implemented. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. When creating this piece I tried to get as many photos that I could get, and I tried to get close shot of the festival but it was difficult as the roads of the town were hard to walk in and there were many obstacles on the sidewalks like crowds of people, trees, dirt. Getting a decent shot was difficult as many times the subjects were moving too quickly. I tried my best with following the rule of thirds in each of the photo's as it was hard to apply rules while taking quick photography. When editing I followed the same route as my other photo series with adding a tint to it. I added a yellow tint to represent happiness and show the importance of the festival to me. I edited many aspects of the photos to try to fit the rules of photography. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? I would have retaken my pictures so that there is a focal point in them, so it looks aesthetically pleasing and the eye dent get drown to many different things in the picture. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? this piece falls within my theme as I tried to show the beauty of the festivals and show only one major part of the festival. My common thread is showing culture and I felt that I conveyed that with the representation of the traditions of the festival. |
