COMO LA FLOR |
PROJECT 5x1. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried was complementary colors as yellow and purple are complementary colors and this made my flower strand out as the vibrant colors are stand out more because of the complementary colors, something that I struggled with was the composition of the piece because I felt that the flower was in the center of the paper but really the middle of the flower is more in the left, Feel as if I mastered color as I used many different colors to try to add value to my piece. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I drew inspiration from Diego Rivera and also Frida Kahlo as they use a lot of symbolism in their pieces and also their is a lot of Mexican culture influences in their art work. Diego Rivera has some painting with beautiful calla lilies 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Composition elements. I had not originally planned to make this piece, I had a photo series, but the composition of the photo series was not good, so I went online to see what was Mexico's national flower was and Dahlia Pinnate showed up and it was such a beautiful flower that I knew I had to draw it, I originally wanted to go in with PrimaColor pencils but I felt that I had tried something that I hadn't used and water color is something that I fear in using as I'm not experienced in using water color, so I decided to use water color so that I could have experienced using water color and I feel like I did okay with this piece. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? . I would add more value to my piece, to make it look more realistic, I would want to use water color pencils to see if that would make a difference in the piece, also erasing the grid lines thoroughly so they don't show up in the piece. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? This relates to my other pieces because it explores identity. The common thread was identify as in this piece I wanted to explore the identity of the culture, but in a smaller aspect like mexico's national flower . |
