PROJECT 51. Define which techniques you tried and mastered? Struggled?
The techniques that I tried was photography as I have never really done a photo series and Learning about photography was a challenge as I struggled to apply the rules of photography in my pictures. I feel as though I mastered the basics of adobe Lightroom, it took a little trial and error and play around with the setting to get used to this editing software. 2. How did you draw inspiration from other artists techniques or aesthetics in your work? In what ways did you derive meaning or gain historical perspectives from their work? Why these artists? I was inspired by a friend that had done a photo series, in the photo series she had pictures of building with a greenish tint to it. I wanted to mine to look similar, but mine revolving around the beauty of Mexico with a warm feeling towards it. I chose Dasia's artwork because it made me feel very drawn to it and made me feel homey although it had cool tones to the pictures, I wanted to create the same affect but with my own style of editing to it. 3. Describe the evolution of your piece. Decisions made. Compositional elements. When creating this piece I knew I wanted picture in where my mom is from but I didn't know If I should have done it in the pueblo she is from or wether to do it in the main city of the State where she is from. I then later decided to do it in the city because one of my favorite artist was born and raise in Guanajuato and it inspired me to try and capture the beauty of the city. I originally only wanted to Building pictures that stands out from the rest of the town, but I decided to show the beauty aspect of the town and show the Town through my eyes. I thought about rule of thirds in the piece although in some of my picture I didn't give to much thought in having a focal point for the picture and I had to edit many single spots of the picture so I wouldn't draw to much attention to it and I had to choose a focal point for the picture and edit the focal point to stand out so its noticeable that it is the focal point. 4. If you could consider doing something over, explain why you would do this and what you would do next time? I would have retaken my pictures so that there is a focal point in them, so it looks aesthetically pleasing and the eye dent get drown to many different things in the picture. 5.Elaborate on how this piece links with your other pieces? What is the common thread? this piece connects towards my other pieces as it show the culture architecture in this one city that I feel connected with, also the photo series shows something of the colors. |
